NEW BUKOBA POWER STATION

BACKGROUND

Bukoba power station was constructed in 1990 before connecting the Town to Uganda grid. The project was funded by the Government of Tanzania.

INAUGURATION

Bukoba power station started to generate electricity in january 1991

OPERATION

Bukoba power station is installed with four generating sets, Wartsila 624TS engines, each with capacity of 0.640MW, and Station’s available capacity is 2.560MW.

In the meantime, Bukoba Power Station is a standby station, it only operates when uganda grid is off, the generators suppplies power through two town feeders at Bukoba municipal and part of the rural areas.

The station is operated and maintained by Tanesco staff.
